Hunting in Namibia

HUNT IN NAMIBIA

From the scorched moonscape of the Fish River Canyon in the south, to the lush waterways of the Kunene, Kavango and Kwando rivers in the north, Namibia is an extraordinarily beautiful and varied land. With the oldest desert on earth and the treacherous Skeleton Coast, Namibia still manages to sustain an incredible variety of living things, in terrain that is as striking as it is desolate. In the northern part, the Etosha National Park is home to 114 mammal species and tens of thousands of antelope.

The luxurious lodges combined with the great service and outstanding hunting opportunities make this part of Namibia your very own dream safari holiday destination. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be picked up by one of our staff members and transferred to the hunting area. The abundance of animals in these areas is fascinating and you will be able to view large numbers of plains game such as Oryx, Kudu, Eland, Steenbok, Red Hartebeest and even a few of the species that can only be found in this region such as the Damara Dik-Dik and Mountain Zebra. In addition to this you will also be able to enjoy big game species such as Leopard, Rhino, Lion, Hyena and Cheetah.

Whether you are a seasoned regular or this is your first trip to Africa, spectacular views and vast valleys will accompany you on exciting stalks when you pursue your most desired African game. The outfitter and his team of professional staff are trained to assist you in every aspect of your stay. Your professional hunter and trackers will guide you throughout your hunt and the helpful camp staff will ensure that you feel more than comfortable while back at camp. Hunts in these vast areas are conducted on foot with spot and stalk being the main method of hunting using incredibly skilled bushman trackers to find and track the animals. Throughout the hunting area there are also numerous waterholes with well-positioned blinds and high-seats for the hunter to use.

The main plains game species hunted are Eland, Kudu, Oryx, Red Hartebeest, Steenbok, Impala, Blesbok, Springbok and Warthog. Other species like Leopard, Cheetah, Damara Dik-Dik, Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra, Klipspringer and Black-Nosed Impala can also be hunted here. This area is one of the only places where one can harvest Damara Dik-Dik as well as Mountain Zebra. Namibia is one of the very few countries where one can still hunt Cheetah. There are also some great hunting opportunities for big-bodied leopards, lions as well as spotted hyenas.

Our Camps and Lodges are Very Comfortable

We start hunting in Namibia in March and the season ends in November with the first rain and thunderstorms moving in from the northeast. The vegetation varies from open grass savanna with scrubs and Mopani trees to more mountainous and rocky areas with big ravines and canyons. Shooting distances vary depending on the area that is hunted, but can range up to 200 yards in the mountains.

Namibia is known for its extremely dry and hot climate, where more than 300 days of the year sunshine is prevailing. In the summer months from September to April the day temperatures vary between 77ºF to 104ºF. In contrast to this, cold winter mornings and nights can also occur but only for a few days at a time. The rainy season starts in November and ends in March. But throughout most of our hunting season you can expect the weather to be hot and dry.

Our camps and lodges are very comfortable and have a unique but truly African atmosphere and flare while at the same time they are equipped with all modern necessities. They are designed for your convenience and comfort and are situated with magnificent views of the beautiful terrain surrounding camp. Here you can enjoy the tranquil African climate during the heat of the day while taking a break from your hunting excursions. You will be served scrumptiously prepared meals and we also offer a bar service with the finest South African and Namibian wines and beers. The outfitter together with his helpful camp staff prepare the meals and special care is taken in the preparation of the best traditional cuisine southern Africa has to offer. Laundry service is also available.
