Central African Republic

Being one of the most exclusive big-game hunting and safari destinations in Africa today, the Central African Republic has definitely succeeded in preserving the authenticity of its landscapes. More than half of the country is untouched by man and home to an exceptionally large biodiversity. Thanks to its central location on the African continent at the meeting point between the Sahara desert in the north and the Congo basin in the south, it boasts a wide array of eco systems ranging from semi desert in the north to great rain forests in the south.

We are proud to be able to bring you very exciting hunts in this part of the region with one of the most exclusive safari operators Central Africa has to offer. In the eastern part of the Central African Republic lies a vast territory, covering more than 20 million hectares, totally free of any human encroachment. This is the land where the rainforest of Congo meets with the rolling hills and the savannas of the north. It stretches from fast flowing and crystal clear streams in the rain forests and mountains to some mighty and lazy rivers where they flow along huge plains and swamps. Our outfitter conducts safaris in some of, if not the most remote areas in Africa today. No road is closer than a hundred kilometers, leaving our concession totally separated from the rest of the world in the middle of a twenty million hectare wilderness. The size of this uninhabited land makes it one of the last truly unexplored and untouched areas in Africa. The hunting area covers two million hectares in the middle of this wilderness and is very special in the way that hunters can combine savannah hunting with forest hunting, as both biotopes are present throughout the whole concession. You may in the morning hunt the majestic Lord Derby Eland and in the evening track one of our forest trails for the elusive Bongo. Or why not call for lion? We entirely hunt our lions either by tracking or by calling in early mornings or late afternoons. This is one of the most adrenaline rushing hunts one can ever experience.

In order to have the possibility to hunt the different areas in this vast concession, four camps are spread throughout the area and a network with over three thousand kilometers of roads has been created. A landing strip is located in the heart of the concession, only thirty minutes from the main camp. Common for all our camps is the top class service and the good quality food. Our professional staff makes sure that every detail is perfectly arranged, doing their best to ensure a wonderful stay and an experience that will never be forgotten. Bangui International Airport will be your port of arrival. The charter flight from Bangui to our private airstrip in the concession takes approximately two and a half hours.

The species available in our concession are Lord Derby Eland, Bongo, Central African Savannah as well as Forest Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, Giant Forest Hog, Roan, Lelwel Hartebeest, Sing Sing Waterbuck, Western Cob, Bohor Reedbuck, Harnessed Bushbuck, Warthog, Oribi, Red Flanked Duiker, Western Bush Duiker, Baboon, Sitatunga, Yellow Back Duiker, Peter's Duiker, Blue Duiker and Red River Hog. Both savannah and forest species can all be hunted throughout the whole season. However, some species are either easier or more beautiful during a certain time of the year. The hunting season starts in December and continues until late June. The driest part of the year will be during the first three months of the year, January till March. At the end of March, the rains start, making April, May and June increasingly green and lush. Depending on the species and the time of year you decide to come and hunt in C.A.R., different hunting methods will be used. Most of the time we will pursue your desired trophies either by tracking, spot & stalk, calling or by using one of our blinds strategically placed near one of the many natural mineral licks. Whatever method is chosen, our PHs and trackers are very experienced and will guide you to within shooting range of your trophy.

If you wish to bring your own firearm to hunt with us in the Central African Republic, JR Hunting will supply you with all the necessary information and travel documents prior to the hunt. Otherwise, if you prefer not to travel with a firearm, we do have rifles available in camp that you can use.

We can only recommend you to come to C.A.R. and hunt with us in this beautiful and pristine place and experience the people, great service and food as well as the unique hunting area our outfitter has to offer!  This can truly be classified as one of Africa's last paradises where you  will have the possibility to hunt for some of the most sought after trophies that still exist on this continent! Just as much as we at JR Hunting are committed to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction in the industry, our partner in the Central African Republic will take excellent care of you as a client and your trophies until shipping.
